Robotic Nest and Tub Handling Module | Nest-R
Robotic palletising cell for nests and tubs at the end of a filling line: 4 to 5 trays per minute, 270 trays per trolley, remote HMI.
Who is it for?
NEST-R is aimed at pharmaceutical manufacturers and sterile contract packagers working with syringes, cartridges or ampoules packed in nests and tubs. It is designed for high-throughput filling lines where manual intermediate storage becomes a bottleneck and an ergonomic risk.
How does NEST-R work?
The module is built around a robotic palletising cell driven from a remote HMI. For the same ground footprint as a conventional storage table, it multiplies available end-of-process capacity by 10. The cycle runs in 4 steps:
- Nest and tub intake at the filling line outfeed
- Automatic tray picking by the robot, at 4 to 5 trays per minute
- Organised palletising into storage trolleys, up to 270 trays per trolley
- Operator alert when the trolleys reach capacity
- Throughput of 4 to 5 trays per minute, matched to fast filling lines
- 270 trays per trolley, 2 trolleys managed — 540 trays stored at once
- Up to 10 times the capacity of a storage table with the same footprint
- Remote HMI: off-station supervision, no operator dedicated to the cell
- Automatic alert when the trolleys are full
- Palletising parameters reconfigured from one format to another via the HMI
- Removes manual transient storage at the filling outfeed
- Fast installation, without major rework of the existing infrastructure

Typical use cases
- Prefilled syringe lines: real-time absorption of the nest flow, with no throughput break at the filling outfeed.
- Pharmaceutical cartridges in tubs: organised, traceable storage between filling and freeze-drying or capping.
- Multi-client sterile contract packaging: fast reconfiguration of palletising parameters from one nest format to another.
- Sites in classified areas: fewer human handling steps in cleanrooms, without heavy infrastructure rework.
- Replacement of a saturated end-of-line storage table, within the same ground footprint.
Everything about this machine
NEST-R fills 2 trolleys of 270 trays each, i.e. 540 trays stored at once. For the same ground footprint as a conventional storage table — which typically holds only around fifty trays awaiting pick-up — capacity is up to 10 times greater.
NEST-R reaches 4 to 5 trays per minute. That rate lets it keep up with fast pharmaceutical filling lines without creating a bottleneck at the process outfeed.
The module is designed to operate close to classified areas: compact architecture and suitable materials. The specifics of your environment — ISO class, differential pressure, cladding — are reviewed during the pre-installation audit and settled before manufacturing.
Installation is designed to be fast and to limit downtime on your line. Exact lead times are set during the integration audit, based on the site configuration and any adaptations needed at the filling outfeed.
No. Once set up, NEST-R runs autonomously and its remote HMI allows off-station supervision. It automatically alerts the operator when the trolleys are full, which keeps production continuous without permanent monitoring of the cell.
